The CSHL Library and Archives regrets to inform the CSHL community of the death of our alumna, bacterial geneticist Evelyn Witkin (1921-2023).
Professor Witkin’s long and distinguished career included a close relationship with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, where she worked in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The CSHL Library and Archives was fortunate to enjoy Evelyn Witkin’s friendship over the years, and she generously took the time to do an in-depth oral history interview with us, which is now part of our oral history collection. She also donated her papers to the CSHL Library and Archives, where they are available for consultation.
