Put another one in the books for Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL). The record books, that is. On June 11, 2024, CSHL celebrated its 30th Annual Golf Tournament, raising nearly $700,000 for bioscience research and education. It was yet another record-breaking fundraising total for the yearly event, topping the previous record set in 2023. More than 250 golfers hit the links at the Creek Club and Piping Rock Club, both in Locust Valley, NY. Following the Tournament, the festivities commenced at Piping Rock with an awards dinner, a raffle, and an exciting live auction—all held against the beautiful backdrop of a Gold Coast sunset.

Paul Paternoster, the day’s honoree, spoke passionately about the many organizations that have joined his group in supporting CSHL’s cancer research. Paternoster has been contributing to CSHL since 2014, when he started the Michelle Paternoster Foundation for Sarcoma Research in honor of his late wife. Thanks to donations from the Paternoster family and other groups dedicated to sarcoma research, CSHL has achieved several significant breakthroughs. Just last year, CSHL’s Vakoc lab discovered potential therapeutic strategies for two forms of this deadly disease—Ewing sarcoma and rhabdomyosarcoma.
The record-breaking fundraiser was made possible through the support of many members of the CSHL community. CSHL Corporate Advisory Board President Eddie Chernoff served as chairman of the event. Additional support came from the following:
