In partnership with Northwell Health, molecular biologist Jeff Boyd joins the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory faculty to better understand the basic biology of cancer. He is working on the genomics of gynecologic and breast cancer, with a focus on two novel hypotheses concerning breast cancer development.

His research focuses on the early natural histories of ovarian carcinoma and metastatic breast cancer. His two hypotheses on breast cancer deal with how primary and metastatic breast cancer lesions arise and how the majority of breast cancers occur in a genetically-susceptible minority of the population.

Boyd completed his Ph.D. from North Carolina State University. He went on to teach at the University of Pennsylvania before taking on roles at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Memorial University Medical Center, and the Fox Chase Cancer Center. Boyd is currently also the Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of Northwell Health.
