---------------------

Steve Mirsky, writer, producer, and host, will introduce Drs. Grodzicker and Stillman and moderate the Q & A.

Steve Mirsky recently retired from Scientific American, where he spent more than two decades as an editor and columnist. He received a Master’s Degree in chemistry from Cornell University in 1985, after which he was awarded a Mass Media Fellowship by the American Association for the Advancement of Science to work as a science journalist at WSVN-TV in Miami. This critical event removed him from the lab, to the relief of the Ithaca, NY, Fire Department.

As a freelance science writer, he contributed to such magazines as Audubon, National Wildlife, Wildlife Conservation, Longevity, Men’s Fitness, Astronomy, Sea Frontiers, and other science and health publications. In the early 1990s he started contributing frequently to Scientific American, and began writing the Anti Gravity column in 1995. The last such column ran in the December 2020 issue. He joined Scientific American full-time in 1997.

Mirsky was a Marine Biological Laboratory Science Writing Fellow in 1993. In 2004-5, he was a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT.
