Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) Professor Adrian Krainer recently received the 2019 Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences.
He describes the hopes shared by many researchers, and how he and C. Frank Bennett from Ionis Pharmaceuticals fulfilled that hope with the development of the first effective therapy for the neurodegenerative disease spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
