Description
The Center for Humanities and Modern Biology invites you to attend the Science Meets Art Festival on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
Please join us as we celebrate the success of the Celia & Wally Gilbert Artist-in-Residence program. This program was founded and supported in 2020 by Nobel laureate Wally Gilbert and his wife Celia, both artists in their own right. The program was created in an effort to bridge the worlds of science and art.
The festival will feature multiple talks from invited artists and a scientist, as well as recipients of the Gilbert Artist-in-Residence program. A variety of mediums, including visual and conceptual art, musical performance, and literary works, will be on display in Grace Auditorium.
Speakers include:
Wally Gilbert, Nobel Prize Laureate and Digital photographer
Carter Burwell, American Film Composer
David Peikon, Contemporary Realist Artist
Helen Hou, CSHL Professor, neuroscientist
2 – 3 p.m. Art Exhibit of Gilbert Artists-in-Residence and CSHL employees
3 – 6 p.m. Mini Symposium
Reception to follow.
