Neuro AI:
AI Fact, Fiction, and the Future of Humanity
We are living in a golden age of artificial intelligence research. Neural networks like ChatGPT represent the new benchmark for what the technology can do, but they still have a long way to go. They excel in things like pattern recognition (self-driving cars, image/speech recognition, language translation, etc.), but still struggle with tasks
requiring common sense or physical interaction with the world, like loading a dishwasher. More importantly however, with a little help from us, the technology will get there.
That’s where NeuroAI comes in.
At Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) the NeuroAI program uses insights from neuroscience to kickstart the next generation of artificial intelligence. Neuroscience has long been a source of influence for AI. After all, if you’re trying to create an artificial brain, what better reference than the genuine article?
AI is everywhere, but what’s fact and what’s fiction? Today's technology seems to have a mind of its own. At CSHL, a new generation of NeuroAI scholars are bringing the field back to its roots, and are ushering in the next evolution of AI in the process.
