Brookhaven National Laboratory’s (BNL) Office of Educational Programs and the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory DNA Learning Center are pleased to invite you to the upcoming virtual panel discussion, Structural Biology Behind Disease Transmission and Drug Design on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 1:00 PM.

This 45 minute discussion featuring insight from Dr. Jonathan Ipsaro (CSHL) and Dr. Alexei Soares (BNL) will complement the premiere of the Full STEM Ahead Long Island “Branching out with Bio” education video, highlighting the research of scientists and students at BNL and CSHL. This episode is part of the Full STEM Ahead Long Island educational video series, a joint venture of the Empire State Development (ESD) and the Long Island STEM Hub.

Panelists will discuss the importance of using structural biology techniques to study and model protein and nucleic acid structures that are critical components to understanding disease and transmission, and the development of drugs to fight diseases such as COVID-19.

Panelists will also address potential career paths for science enthusiasts in addition to taking your questions through a live Q and A! We also invite you to submit questions to oep@bnl.gov ahead of the panel. We will try to address as many questions as possible, but may not get to all.
