In 2008 the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to three scientists “for the discovery and development of the green fluorescent protein, GFP.” GFP is a fluorescent protein that was first isolated from a jellyfish called Aequoria victoria in 1961. Join DNALC instructor Amanda McBrien to explore how jellyfish use GFP in nature and how molecular biologists have learned to use the protein in their research!
