Assistant Professor Je H. Lee is a recipient of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) Seed Networks for the Human Cell Atlas grant, which will fund work to map gene expression and RNA-protein interactions throughout the formation of breast tissue. The result will be a snapshot of RNA regulation during breast tissue development and aging.
The Human Cell Atlas is a global, scientist-led effort to create a reference map of all cell types in the human body as a fundamental reference for biomedical research. CZI’s Seed Networks projects seek to provide additional support to ongoing collaborative networks and invite new participants to this effort.
“The main focus of my lab is studying the spatial organization of RNA, both in development and in cancer,” Lee explained. “Through the Human Cell Atlas project, we will take it a step further and map RNA-proteins interactions during normal breast tissue development.”
The project team includes Associate Professor Nicholas Navin of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Assistant Professor Kai Kessenbrock at University of California Irvine.
