CSHL WiSE earns community support grant from Mary’s Pence

The Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) chapter of Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) received a grant of $5,000 from Mary’s Pence for outreach programming and to support women involved in STEM work in the CSHL and surrounding community. Mary’s Pence is a nonprofit organization that provides funding to women-led organizations that are creating social change in their community which improve the lives of women and promotes social justice.

Founded in 2015, CSHL WiSE supports women scientists and engineers in their professional development with mentorship, career planning, networking, and educational opportunities. The organization strives to foster a supportive, equal, and aware scientific community, and to combat gender biases. “CSHL WiSE is humbled and honored to be selected for a Mary’s Pence Community Action Grant,” said Deborah Rupert, president of CSHL WiSE and student-in-residence in Stephen Shea’s lab. “WiSE remains committed to supporting gender equity in STEM in our local community at CSHL and beyond.”
