Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s first and flagship journal, Genes & Development, marks its 25th Anniversary this year. In celebration of this anniversary, the Genetics Society of Great Britain, one of the founders along with CSHL, held its annual autumn meeting in honor of the journal. The two-day meeting titled ‘At the Cutting Edge of Molecular Biology: 25 Years of Genes & Development’ was held on November 7th and 8th 2012 at the Royal Society (London). The meeting brought together distinguished scientists from across the biological sciences, focusing on issues such as chromatin, epigenetics, gene regulation, replication, checkpoints and DNA repair, RNA function and control, development, stem cells and diseases such as cancer, representing the broad scope of science covered by the journal. Most of the speakers were past or present Editorial Board members, and the sessions were chaired by past and present Editors of Genes & Development. The meeting provided a stimulating two days of high-quality science.
