The Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) DNA Learning Center (DNALC) opened its newest campus at the City University of New York (CUNY) CityTech campus in Brooklyn, New York on September 24, 2021. CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez celebrated the DNALC NYC as an educational resource for students across many New York City communities.

Established in 1988, the DNALC has provided science education to over 700,000 middle school and high school students in the New York area through hands-on experiments, science camps, and field trips. Rodríguez hopes the new facility will increase equity and inclusion in the field of STEM (science, technology, education, mathematics).

“We invite all the schools around the city to take advantage of this magnificent center,” Rodríguez says. “I’m so proud that we’re working here together, and our hope is to inspire young minds to pursue careers in science and achieve breakthroughs that will make the world a better place.”
