Retrovirologists gather at CSHL

Some 450 scientists from around the world meet at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory this week for the 27th Annual Retroviruses meeting (May 21 – May 26, 2002). Sessions on virus entry, integration, RNA processing, assembly, evolution, recombination, and pathogenesis will comprise more than 360 presentations during this five-day conference. Keynote Speakers will be Julie Overbaugh of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (“The HIV-1 Epidemic in Africa: What are the Opportunities and Challenges for Molecular Retrovirologists?”) and Bob Siliciano of Johns Hopkins University (“Mechanisms of Viral Persistence in HIV Infection: Basic Science and Clinical Implications”).
