On Sunday, September 16th, 250 attendees gathered on the Airslie House lawn for the seventeenth annual Women’s Partnership for Science luncheon, held at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL). The luncheon featured speaker Amanda McBrien, Assistant Director of CSHL’s DNA Learning Center (DNALC) and raised more than $200,000 for the Laboratory’s research and education programs.

CSHL President & CEO Bruce Stillman welcomed the guests, including CSHL Board Chairman Jamie C. Nicholls and Vice Chair Marilyn Simons, and CSHL Association President Michele Celestino. An experienced educator, McBrien told the story of the Russian princess Anastasia Romanov; weaving genetics into the mystery of her disappearance. This genetic tale is one of the many hands-on lab programs offered by the DNALC that uses science to explore forensic evidence.
