'No Eyes, No Brain, No Problem — How Plants See the World and What They Can Teach Us'  with CSHL Associate Professor Ullas Pedmale

Plants don’t have eyes or brains, yet they constantly sense and respond to their environment. They can “see” light, detect their neighbors, feel heat and cold, and even anticipate future stress. In this informal talk, plant biologist Dr. Ullas Pedmale explores how plants perceive the world around them and why these hidden abilities matter more than ever in a changing world. Learn how plants decide when to grow, flower, or protect themselves, what happens when climate signals go haywire, and how understanding plant perception can help us build more resilient crops and ecosystems. No science background required, just curiosity.

Note: CSHL does not provide food so please plan ahead.

Seating is limited and is first come, first serve. Standing room is available once the seats are filled. Reserving your ticket on Eventbrite does not guarantee you a seat at the event.
