Harrison’s Heart Foundation will honor Niki Gregory, President of the Board, The Maurer Foundation for Breast Health Education, at its Annual Gala on Friday, September 23, 2005 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY.
The inspiration behind the creation of Harrison’s Heart Foundation was Harrison Tull who passed away in 2002 at the age of 14 months after struggling with a complex combination of cardiovascular problems since birth.
The American Heart Association estimates that at least eight out of every 1,000 infants born each year have heart defects and as result of these disorders the vast majority of these children never reach their first birthday. Harrison’s Heart Foundation is focused on promoting and funding research into the causes of congenital heart disease in children with the hope that it will lead to a better understanding of the formation and development of these conditions.
Harrison’s Heart Foundation has partnered with the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in its efforts to support research into the causes of heart conditions in children.
Niki Gregory is a philanthropist that has served the community as both a volunteer for and a member of numerous non-profit organizations in the New York area. She is a breast cancer survivor and currently serves as the President of the Board of the Maurer Foundation for Breast Health Education. Niki, together with her husband Joe, also support Huntington Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical Center, Hofstra University, Cold Spring Harbor Library, Holiday House, GLSEN, Posse, Harlem Children’s Zone and Harrison’s Heart Foundation.
The Foundation supports research focused on congenital heart disease in children. The Annual Gala dinner and dance fundraising event, features The Kevin Osborne Band with musicians from the Broadway hit Movin’ Out. Tickets are $200.00 per person, and can be reserved by calling 631-549-0359.
