Cold Spring Harbor, NY — The Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) Board of Trustees, faculty and administration mourn the passing of Evelyn H. Lauder. Mrs. Lauder graced CSHL as an Honorary Member of the Board of Trustees and she championed breast cancer research at the Laboratory and around the world through her leadership of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
In the words of CSHL Professor Michael Wigler whose cancer research is supported by BCRF, “She exemplified the best in human nature, grace and passion, intelligence and commitment, compassion and effectiveness, humor and seriousness of purpose.” For these qualities and her incomparable achievements in raising awareness about genetic disease, CSHL proudly awarded Mrs. Lauder the 2010 Double Helix Medal.
To her husband Leonard, family and many friends, we express our deepest sympathies.
