Women’s Partnership for
Science Luncheon Has Fifth Successful Year
|
Brooke Ellison, who was paralyzed from the neck down in a car
accident at the age of 11, addressed a crowd of women who came to
Peacock Point in Lattingtown (the home of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel P.
Davison) from Manhattan, the Hamptons and all places in between for
the Fifth Annual Women’s Partnership For Science Lecture and
Luncheon on Saturday, June 17. Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory President
Bruce Stillman described her talk as “a fantastic exposition
of why we should be supporting research. It gives a lot of people
hope.”
The Women’s Partnership for Science at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
supports women who pursue careers in biomedical research through
programs of extensive mentoring for professional scientists, graduate,
undergraduate, high school and middle school students. The Partnership
helps to instill inquisitive attitudes and to encourage women to
pursue leadership roles by nurturing their capacity to achieve at
the highest levels of science.
