Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a world renowned research and educational institution, has an immediate opening for an administrative assistant.

Duties will include diversified administrative/secretarial responsibilities, as well as assisting with grant preparation. A minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience is required, exceptional organizational, communication and PC skills including MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook (Canvas, FileMaker Pro, & Endnote is helpful). An ability to multitask and thrive under pressure necessary. Experience with submission of federal grants for scientific research support preferred.

The Dolan DNA Learning Center of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory has an immediate opening for a full time Administrative Assistant. We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic support person for assistance in the day-to-day operation of the DNALC.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, communication, and computers skills, along with the ability to multi-task. Highly diversified responsibilities include: scheduling field trips, entering spreadsheet data, billing, answering phones, organizing mailings, arranging travel/housing, taking meeting notes, and greeting and directing students, teachers, and visitors. Attention to detail is imperative. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required. Knowledge of MS Access a plus. Minimum two years experience required.

CSHL is currently searching for a Buyer in our Purchasing Department.

Primary responsibilities will include obtaining competitive price quotations from vendors for supplies and equipment; determining the most favorable mix of price, delivery terms, and product lead-time that meets the needs of the requisitioner; and issuing a formal purchase order to complete the transaction. Other responsibilities include resolving vendor invoice discrepancies; identifying alternate sources of supply; and coordinating the purchase of capital equipment.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a Facilities Services Manager for its north shore, Long Island campus. The successful candidate will oversee shipping, receiving, and material handling operations; housekeeping and custodial services; and recreational facilities. He or she will manage a staff of up to 50 employees, and will be responsible for ensuring that operations for which he or she is responsible will be conducted efficiently and to the highest standard. This is not a facilities engineering position.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree, have excellent management and interpersonal skills, and the ability to meet complex logistical challenges.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a world renowned biological research center, is looking for a person with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for a position at the Information Technology Helpdesk.

This position will require basic understanding of desktop and laptop hardware and software with strong understanding of Microsoft Office products. Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is a world-class research and educational institution located on the north shore of Long Island. We are currently seeking an IT Coordinator for an immediate opening within our Meetings & Courses department.

Responsibilities:

The set up, maintenance, and breakdown of computer hardware (computers, printers, wireless APs, and proprietary hardware such as plate readers, etc.) for multiple, concurrent, short duration courses. Troubleshooting and resolving of software, hardware, and networking problems to be completed within a compressed timeframe - at times on 20+ machines or more.

Qualifications:

• The successful candidate will be self motivated with two plus years of experience in a fast paced environment, possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, excellent customer service skills, as well as the ability to prioritize the fulfillment of multiple requests.

• Candidate must have a working knowledge of server hardware and software (configuration/ maintenance of FTP, HTTP, DHCP, etc.).

• Proficiency in Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Macintosh OS X operating systems (hardware and software installation/configuration).

• A general understanding of Linux (installation of software binaries as well as compiling from source).

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), seeks an experienced grants administrator for the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP). OSP actively promotes the research and education mission of CSHL by facilitating and managing sponsored funding in collaboration with CSHL Investigators, the Director of Research, and other CSHL Departments.

The Senior Grants Administrator serves as a key member of the OSP management team. The Administrator will coordinate and manage sponsored research activities including accounting, and compliance with sponsor requirements, and will ensure that institutional policies, laws and regulations are proactively addressed and followed. The Administrator will be a lead resource for negotiating and acceptance of awards and interpreting and implementing sponsored program requirements. The Administrator will train and foster the professional development of OSP staff and research administrators.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a higher education, financial, or research administration environment is required. An advanced degree in business, finance, or accounting is preferred. A bachelor’s degree is required. Demonstrated knowledge and application of federal regulations for research administration is required, and outstanding leadership and managerial experience is essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with institutional faculty and administrators are necessary. Solid knowledge of PC-based computing applications in the networked computing environment, including Microsoft Office, email, and financial database applications are essential and knowledge of Lawson Business Systems software is a plus.

CSHL is seeking housekeepers to maintain the 74 buildings at five locations. Housekeepers will sweep, mop, change bed linens, and otherwise maintain residential and laboratory areas.
