For
more than 30 years, CSHL scientists have been making revolutionary discoveries,
bringing us ever closer to understanding cancer. Today, in a coordinated
effort that involves a number of research laboratories, Lab scientists
are using innovative techniques to discover the genetic causes
of several types of cancer — including breast, ovarian, prostate,
lung, skin, colon, cervical, pancreatic and brain cancer, as well
as leukemia and lymphoma. Once genes related to these cancers are
identified, researchers can work toward developing novel therapies
to fight these diseases. Maintaining clinical collaborations with
the best physicians in each of these areas allows CSHL to move
discovery directly into the clinic to rapidly help suffering patients.
