Few
things are more fascinating than the inner workings of the human brain, and
CSHL scientists work tirelessly to understand it. How does the
complex architecture
of the brain develop? Why does it develop differently for sufferers
of autism and schizophrenia? Why does it sometimes deteriorate,
with
the onset of debilitating diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s?
Our scientists develop and utilize state-of-the-art research tools
to get to the bottom of these mysteries so that they can affect
treatment. Many of the tools and technologies created for studying
cancer are now being applied to grasping neurological disorders,
several of which also have a genetic root. |
