Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory scientists use molecular biology, genetic and bioinformatic techniques to probe the areas of cell biology, cancer, neurobiology, plants, virology and the genomes of model systems. Typically our technology is "early stage" and will require substantial development by a licensee to generate commercial products. CSHL's Technology Transfer Office encourages companies to discuss their business interests with our staff members so that we can bring all the CSHL inventions and prominent investigators in these areas to their attention.
A few technologies and programs that have a more general interest are listed below:
Biotechnology CSHL licenses technologies developed by its scientists to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical market for purposes of drug discovery, target validation, and/or therapeutic development. CSHL scientists work on a wide range of disease related topics and are on the cutting edge of drug discovery research in areas of oncology, neurobiology, and development. CSHL also has played a seminal role in discovering and developing new applications the new field of RNA Interference (RNAi) and has made these technologies widely available to the scientific community.
Research Reagents In the course of their research, CSHL scientists often develop reagents of interest to other researchers. CSHL has available many research reagents, including monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, cell lines, and various expression and cloning systems.
Software Programs enabling the analysis of specific model system genomes are currently available for site licenses.
