Retrovirologists Gather at CSHL
Some 450 scientists from around the world meet at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory this week for the 27th Annual Retroviruses meeting (May 21 - May 26, 2002). Sessions on virus entry, integration, RNA processing, assembly, evolution, recombination, and pathogenesis will comprise more than 360 presentations during this five day conference. Keynote Speakers will be Julie Overbaugh of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center ("The HIV-1 Epidemic in Africa: What are the Opportunities and Challenges for Molecular Retrovirologists?") and Bob Siliciano of Johns Hopkins University ("Mechanisms of Viral Persistence in HIV Infection: Basic Science and Clinical Implications").
