DNA Learning Center Launches DNA Today Podcast Series

The Latest Genetic Research is Boiled Down to 2 Minute Easy to Understand Conversations

Cold Spring Harbor, New York --  Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) announces the DNA Today podcast series, bringing easy to understand explanation of the latest research being done in the areas of genetics and molecular biology to the Internet.  In 3-4 minute segments, DNA Today commentators Dave Micklos and Jan Witkowski talk in lay terms about scientific advances that are usually only available in scientific journals.

“Why shouldn’t science that has implications for personal health, the environment, and society at large be a topic of discussion at the dinner table or the office water cooler?” asked Dave Micklos, Executive Director of the Dolan DNA Learning Center (DNALC).  The DNALC is the world’s first genetics education facility dedicated to reaching middle school and high school students and teachers.  

As a research and education institution, CSHL is committed to raising public awareness about science and preparing the public for the way science is and will continue to impact our lives.  “Making science easily accessible and understandable to non-scientists is what DNA Today podcasts are all about,” explained Jan Witkowski, Executive Director of CSHL’s Banbury Center, an international mecca for high-level scientific and public policy discussions year round.
