CSHL Joins Innovative New York Academy of Sciences Program

Post-graduate students in the greater New York area are flocking in record numbers to the New York Academy of Sciences’ groundbreaking new program, the Science Alliance for Graduate Students and Postdocs. The program has already enrolled more than 4,000 scientists as Academy members from 14 leading universities, teaching hospitals, and independent institutions including Columbia University, The Rockefeller University, and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. The Science Alliance provides graduate students and postdocs opportunities to network with their peers and with leaders in academia and industry. Each month, the program sponsors social events, mentoring workshops, and a variety of scientific seminars. In addition, a website provides Science Alliance members with the latest information on science topics and career-related material (see http://www.nyas.org/sa/ ). CSHL chancellor James D. Watson believes the program can “perform an immense service” and “is making an important investment in the youthful, unfettered, curiosity-seeking drive for scientific knowledge.” For more information about the Science Alliance, visit www.nyas.org/sciencealliance or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
