Cold Spring Harbor Main Street Association Paints the Town Pink

Fashion Show Proceeds Support Research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory

Cold Spring Harbor will be dressed up on Sunday, April 10 when nearly every business and restaurant on Main Street participates in Paint the Town Pink, a spring fashion show sponsored by the Cold Spring Harbor Main Street Association to benefit breast cancer research Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Tickets are $20 ($25 at the door). Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is located at One Bungtown Road, Cold Spring Harbor. For more information, contact 631-367-8737.

Cashmere Oyster, La Panche, Mollie McGuire’s, Pashley Children’s Boutique, Talbots, and Window Box fashions will be modeled by Cold Spring Harbor residents and merchants in Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s Grace Auditorium beginning at 4 pm. Hair and make-up will be provided by Colors of Cold Spring Harbor Salon and Studio; Gorgeous, The Salon; Orpheus Salon and Day Spa; and Sandy O’s Faces. Following the fashion show, a reception will be held featuring hors d’oeuvres served by 105 Harbor, Bedlam Street Fish & Clam Co. and Trattoria Grasso. The Cold Spring Harbor Arts Center will also provide live jazz music. Raffles are also available for $5 or six for $25. “It is a true testament to the people of Cold Spring Harbor that everyone on Main Street was able to find a role that suited their business and could join together as a community to work on a worthwhile project to support breast cancer research at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory,” said Patricia Ramsay, President/Director of the CSH Main Street Association and owner of Pashley Children’s Boutique. Ramsay is co-chairing the event with Thomasina Michalik of Cold Spring Motors-Citgo and Gail Grasso of Trattoria Grasso.

The Cold Spring Harbor Main Street Association was first organized in 1996 as a not-for-profit corporation to begin laying the groundwork for planning and creating a Business Improvement District for the Historic Downtown area. In May 2001, the CSH Main Street Association became a publicly supported, charitable organization that seeks to provide a coordinating agency for projects and planning that encourages and benefits the restoration and preservation of the historic Main Street district and the character of the community. Additionally, through activities and operations, the organization seeks to broaden the opportunities for community members to share their concerns and create local solutions by providing a forum for ongoing involvement. Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is a private, non-profit basic research institution. Under the leadership of Dr. Bruce Stillman, a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a Fellow of the Royal Society (London), more than 330 scientists at the Laboratory conduct groundbreaking research in cancer, neurobiology, plant genetics and bioinformatics. Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is one of eight National Cancer Institute-designated basic research centers in the U.S. and the only such center in the tri-state area.
